YOUR ANTICIPATION: STACY

When I first became interested in taking my photography hobby to the next level, I enrolled in a class and was fortunate to meet a lovely woman named Stacy. We had photography in common, but I also just liked her sweet spirit and encouragement. While we were both pursuing careers in the same industry, Stacy had a passion for newborns and children’s photography…I’ve watched her progress and am nothing less than impressed by all she’s achieved.

A few months back, she sent me an email saying she and her husband were expecting their third child! There must be something in the water, because I have so many friends with a baby on board! I was shocked and thrilled when she asked me to document her pregnancy with some photographs as she hadn’t done it with her two previous pregnancies.

In an effort to find a beautiful and nature inspired backdrop, we got in our cars and drove through Laguna Canyon. We found the perfect spot, but were told to watch out for rattle snakes. I’m relieved to say that neither of us had to suffer for our art – ha!

Stacy, you’re a gorgeous mama and I can’t wait to meet the little boy or girl you’re carrying!!! I’m so glad we’ve remained friends and I couldn’t be prouder or happier for you!

YOUR JOURNEY: JULIE

Sometime last year, I was contacted by a sorority sister of mine, who happens to live here in CA, as well. We have a mutual dear friend, but didn’t really know each other very well in college. However, because of Facebook, we’ve connected more over the last few years.

I was thrilled to hear from Julie Rollins that she was starting a photography business, too! She specializes in newborns, infants, and children and has been building a booming business! I’m so excited for her to see how her business progresses. She herself, has three beautiful babies, and being that she has a really fun personality, I know her clients will be loyal to her for years!

When building a photography business, it’s important to share yourself with your clients. They need to know you and part of that is through a blog, bio and ‘about me.’ I mentioned this to Julie and she got right on it…and I was blessed to be able to shoot some portraits of her last week on her birthday for her blog!

Julie, I’m so excited to have our photography careers in common! Having you in So Cal is great and we need to make it a priority to connect more!

My sister in law, Shannon, is BEAUTIFUL. I can still remember the first time my brother introduced us to her. She was so tiny, giggly, and beautiful…and she had big dreams.

It’s been almost 10 years since we’ve had her in our lives and she still has big dreams. She is raising two of those dreams right now…my gorgeous niece and nephew. They are wonderful children with happy dispositions and are incredibly bright (in my humble opinion! ha!).

While she’s an “executive homemaker” (just heard that phrase recently and loved it), she’s also pursuing some new projects and since I was just in Denver for the niece’s birthday, I told her I’d take some profile photos of her. And I think they fit her to a T. She’s spunky and beautiful and also very committed to her passions. I admire her for that.

Shannon, I love ya to pieces and am so excited to see you pursue your dreams!

I also had to sneak in a darling pic of Shan and my brother. I was trying to get them to do some fun poses, but they started laughing and then this happened naturally…and that brings joy to my heart! : )

I recently traveled to Nashville for a conference on blogging. Yes, they have those! It was a blast and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting women who I’ve been connecting with online for the last year. One special friend, Kimm, asked me if I’d take some profile photos while we were there. I jumped at the chance. She’s sweet, talented, and beautiful and I couldn’t wait to shoot her. : )

YOUR JOURNEY.JABEZ SALON PORTRAITS.

I got a call last week from a fabulous salon in Yorba Linda, the Jabez Salon, asking if I could come and update the portraits of the staff and snap some images of the salon for a website upgrade. Not having been there before, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I found a gorgeous salon filled with talented and lovely stylists and administrators.

I also have to admit that while my mom and my sister both go there, I’d been pretty loyal to another salon. But I needed a cut and color and I needed it bad. So I killed two birds with one stone.

My hair turned out beautifully, if I do say so myself, and I’m very pleased with how the portraits turned out, too. Below are just a handful of samples. On Sunday evening, out at the vineyard, I had the chance to shoot some quick photos of my sister. She’s beautiful, funny, talented, and makes me laugh! She also has gorgeous blue eyes that kinda make my brown eyes jealous…but that’s okay, because I’ve convinced her to take care of mom and dad when they get old. HA!

When it comes to head shots or profile photos, I always recommend that you bring outfits that demonstrate who you are in your every day life. The location is really important, too! A person who never goes to the beach, should not have their photos taken there!

Oh, I’m sorry, did you see my latest client? I’m not gonna lie, it’s not difficult to be a photographer when you have a STUNNING subject…and Diana was just that! A portrait photographer based in Orange County, Diana is someone I met through networking at SMUG events and we clicked (pun intended) over having the same camera. After meeting up a few times, I encouraged her to move forward with a blog and she recently said she needed some portraits done for said blog and her Facebook account. I was happy to oblige as I knew she’d be an easy person to shoot!

We met this morning at Peters Canyon and found some perfect open shade areas for portraits! But with this gorgeous gal, I knew any location would be great! Diana, it was a pleasure shooting you and I just love the way the shots turned out. I hope you love them, too!

For those of you needing head shots or profile pictures, I hope you’ll consider JJP! As you can see, I’m not afraid of getting up close and personal!

Deanna is a web designer and avid blogger who didn’t have any profile photos or head shots. We connected online and she is the one who put together my fabulous banner and helped me set up this site, so it was time for me to return the favor and make sure her readers and clients knew who they were speaking with!

We met at the Orange Plaza and took advantage of the great light and scenery. Then we took advantage of a local restaurant for a nice glass of wine!

Deanna, it was fun meeting you in person and getting the chance to just hang out. I’m so glad you like these images! You’ve got a terrific smile and an even more terrific personality! XOXO!

Last weekend, I had the honor of “trading faces” with another photographer. We decided to try out a new location (The Lab in Costa Mesa) and get some shots of one another. Gina, from Monkey Moon Photography, is a total doll and I loved the way these shots turned out. She has a great smile and a fantastic southern accent!
