This weekend, I attended the first birthday of a very special client. I took his parents’ maternity shots, his hospital arrival shots, newborn shots, and their family Christmas photos. He’s also the son of one of my dearest friends!

When I arrived at the party, Clare told me that she’d used one of our favorite shots on the cake! What a joy it is to have my photography loved by others and to continue to be used as time passes on!

I recently had the pleasure of photographing the Baez family. Jacob just turned four and it was time to get some updated family photos.

We met at Irvine Regional Park on the first nice Saturday of the season, with Spring just around the corner, we weren’t the only ones with the idea of spending some time outdoors. The park was full of families, enjoying their time together, and after our shoot, the Baez’s were off to ride the train.

Sugar and spice and everything nice. Yep, that describes these two precious little girls! I had the opportunity to shoot a session for some friend’s just a few weeks ago, just in the squeak of time for Christmas. I hadn’t seen their beautiful daughters in some time and when I arrived, I was greeted by two gorgeous sisters!

We shot at their home and made use out of their beautiful landscaping. But the center of attention were the four beautiful eyes and two bright smiles who found their way into my camera! What angels!!!

While it’s sometimes a challenge being a part-time photographer, it also has it’s blessings! Many of my clients I have known through my day job, including Jennifer and Larry! When I started posting images on Facebook, I got a great message from them asking if I could snap their Christmas photo and some images of little Maddie, who just turned one!

We met at Irvine Park, where the trees were all so colorful and vibrant. There were wonderful areas for kids to play and the Christmas Train was already in full effect! This was a location that I’ll enjoy shooting at again in the future!!! And I hope I get to shoot the Labrados again in the future, too. Their smiles and laughter were infectious and little Maddie is just adorable! Thanks, guys, for hiring me and for putting your trust in me!!!

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of meeting up with an old high school friend of mine in order to photograph her family. It’s hard to imagine that someone I used to dance with and play with after school is already a mom…after all, I’m still a kid. Right, RIGHT?!

LeAnn, your girls are GORGEOUS and I had a fantastic time spending the afternoon with you guys! Anytime you want to come over and “play”, you’re more than welcome!!! XOXO!

I met up with the Suydam family last weekend at a small park near their house and it turned out to be quite perfect. But that’s not all that was perfect…their darling little girls fall right into that category, too! Lauren and Hannah are completely delicious and love to play and run around. They are girly girls, but also enjoyed running around after a soccer ball. Something tells me they’ll be keeping mom and dad quite busy for the next 15 years or so. ; )

It’s so fun being able to shoot portraits of old friends. I’ve known Mike and Nicole for years and I just love to see how their lives have evolved since the arrival of their precious daughters. They are wonderful parents; the evidence is in their charming girls!

This weekend, I continued the family Christmas card shoot bonanza. I began with a family session at Irvine Park, near the railroad. My friend Julie hasn’t had a family portrait done and her son is 4 1/2, so she figured it was time. And Saturday was her birthday, too, so I’m guessing she got what she’s always wanted!!!

Little boys are such a hoot to photograph! You have to be fast and know that your photos will mostly be about “moments” and not perfectly posed photos. Caden is a doll and a total ham. Our session was a lot of fun and I think I got some shots that exemplify their family perfectly!

Julie, Mike, and Caden, I had a great time capturing your family and I truly hope you like the end result! XOXO!

I’ve been up to my ears in Christmas card photos lately, not that I’m complaining! Even though it’s been hot as can be here in So Cal, I’ve edited all my shoots wearing Christmas socks, because darn it, I just feel like it!

One of my favorite families, the Venegas’ wanted something rustic for their photos and we found a great spot just around the corner from my house! I love it when that happens! Cedar Grove Park is lined by a grove of trees here in Tustin, which made a perfect backdrop! When you’re trying to determine locations, don’t assume there isn’t an option close by and around the corner, because there just may be!

Clare and Matt, you guys are gorgeous and I can’t wait to see how the cards turn out!!! Derek is a handsome lil devil and I know everyone will love your pics! XOXO

I love getting referrals to nice (and beautiful) people! Pat, Aleeza, and Callie came to me by way of previous clients and though we hadn’t met in person prior to our shoot, I knew they’d be great to work with. Their little angel is about 10 months old and is the perfect blend of mommy and daddy. She had such a great smile and inquisitive nature!

I met the trio down at Crystal Cove at sunset and we got some great shots! I pulled a rookie move and left my flip flops at our first location. Happily, found my sandals and when I got home, I found some great photos of this darling family, too! Enjoy!

While Callie was a superstar, I should mentioned one thing to potential clients: during family shoots, the little ones always set the pace. Please don’t be worried if your child gets fussy or needs a break to play or have a fruit snack! A happy child is a smiley child and is always easier to photograph! Also, if you child just LOSES it, which frankly hasn’t happened yet, we’ll work through it and will make your experience a good one as best as we can!

The Seatons were some of my first clients and they’re so easy to photograph because they’re so attractive! They have beautiful smiles and warm souls…I feel like I’ve known them forever! When I started publicizing my Christmas special, they jumped on it right away and I’m so glad they did! Their daughter Finley just turned one and is walking and is already so smart! I love seeing how much she’s already grown!!!
