Forgive the quality of the photo below as my scanner is not the most sophisticated, but I wanted to share one of my favorite family Christmas card photos! The photo below was taken about four years ago in Maui, before my sister-in-law and brother (the blond cutie in the white dress and the handsome dude next to her) had my niece and nephew. My parents go every year and invite us “kids” every other year and we always do a family photo on the beach or in the flora and fawna. This photo was taken by a crazy hippy woman who could compete with George Hamilton for darkest tan! Having said that, I love how she captured us all on the water before the clouds covered the sun completely and the rain drops took over.

In other years, we’ve posed in front of the tree with all the family animals-in the terrible matching sweaters-or at the lake on jet skis, you name it! Everyone puts a different emphasis on family portraiture, but I think it’s important to document your family’s progress over the year and to share it with family and friends!!!
